The Lottery Office Donates $17K to Support Mothers and Healthcare Workers Through Motherhood Village

Funding to Help Expand Mental Health Support for Mothers in Need

The Lottery Office has donated $17,000 to Motherhood Village to fund an additional support group for mothers experiencing mental health challenges during pregnancy and up to five years postpartum.

The funding will allow Motherhood Village to run an extra support group for one year, helping reduce growing waitlists and provide much-needed care to women who are struggling during one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

Supporting the People Who Support Others

Motherhood Village provides mental health support services and peer support groups for mothers facing emotional, psychological and social challenges throughout pregnancy and early motherhood.

One of the organisation’s most in-demand support groups is specifically designed for medical professionals including midwives, psychologists and other healthcare workers, who are often the very people mothers rely on for care and guidance.

Despite spending their careers supporting others, many healthcare professionals can find themselves without adequate support when facing their own mental health struggles during motherhood.

Addressing a Growing Need for Maternal Mental Health Support

The pressures of pregnancy, early parenting and balancing professional responsibilities can take a significant toll on mental wellbeing, particularly for healthcare workers who are often expected to continue caring for others while managing their own challenges privately.

By funding the extra group, The Lottery Office hopes to help more mothers access a safe and supportive environment where they can connect with others experiencing similar challenges and receive the support they need.

The Lottery Office CEO Jaclyn Wood said the organisation was proud to support a charity making a meaningful difference for Australian mothers and healthcare workers.

“Mothers in healthcare roles spend so much of their lives caring for others, yet many struggle to find support when they need it themselves. We’re proud to support Motherhood Village in expanding these vital services and helping more women access the mental health support they deserve,” Ms Wood said.

Creating Positive Community Impact

The donation reflects The Lottery Office’s ongoing commitment to supporting Australian organisations and communities.

As demand for maternal mental health services continues to grow, organisations like Motherhood Village play an important role in ensuring mothers feel supported, connected and heard during difficult times.

Through this partnership, The Lottery Office hopes to help more women access life-changing support and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges during motherhood.
