WHY WAS THE JACKPOT SO LARGE?
The last time someone won the Mega Millions jackpot was in April 2022, which means that 29 consecutive draws ended without a jackpot winner. Since no one had won in such a long time, the jackpot steadily climbed.
The jackpots start at USD$20 million and grow by a minimum of USD$5 million per draw each time there is no first-division winner and the jackpot rolls.
