US Powerball Stories, The good, The bad and the Ugly

US Powerball is one of the biggest lotteries in the business and for this reason, it’s also one of the most popular! With huge jackpots into the billions, lives are being changed across the globe and winners are (normally) happier than ever!

Let’s take a look at the good, the bad and the ugly US Powerball stories.

The Good

In January 2019, a 56-year-old truck driver won over AUD$400 million after purchasing a $10 ticket! Mr David Johnson wasn’t aware of the win until a co-worker mentioned that the winning ticket was purchased at the store where he bought his tickets. Upon checking his numbers the store person announced he was a winner! Mr Johnson was so excited about his win that he couldn’t even eat!

What did he buy? He had always dreamed of buying a Porsche, but he also hired a lawyer to help him make the right financial choices with the money he won.

The Bad

Sometimes it’s cruel to be kind! Mindy Crandall allowed 84-year-old Gloria Mackenzie to push in line while waiting to purchase her US Powerball ticket, and this could have been the biggest mistake of her life.

Mrs Mackenzie went on to win an AUD$590 million Powerball jackpot leaving poor Mindy high and dry!

The Ugly

Most lottery winners consider themselves lucky, however, Andrew Whittaker from West Virginia could only think of himself as unlucky after he won a huge AUD$450 million US Powerball jackpot in 2002.

Please explain?

Not long after his win, a series of unfortunate events struck this unlucky winner. He uncovered a threat to drug and rob him, had AUD$745,000 stolen and was sued by a casino. He was broke within 4 years!

There are many ways to protect yourself after winning a US Powerball jackpot. Many past winners recommend seeking advice from financial advisors, accountants and even hiring a lawyer to manage any legal issues that arise.

When you buy a ticket in our international lotteries, we buy a matching ticket in the overseas lottery, and if you are a big winner you can remain anonymous.
