With that said, here are some of the best breweries around the world that are worth checking out.

HILL FARMSTEAD BREWERY, VERMONT, USA

As far as beer destinations go, Vermont is up there with the best of them. And as a lottery winner, it should 100% be high on your travel bucket list, along with a visit to the Hill Farmstead Brewery.

The Hill Farmstead Brewery is often cited as one of, if not the, best brewery in the world. They offer private tours for groups of up to 20 people. You’ll get to try some of their award-winning beers and even design your own menu.

What initially started as a high-school project for founder Shaun E. Hill, the brewery has made quite the name for itself in just ten years. More recently, the brewery has debuted fruited ales with cherries and raspberries and, of course, offer their more popular beer, including Helles and American India Pale Ale.

TEMPEST BREWING CO, SCOTLAND

Originally started from a garage in Christchurch, New Zealand, founder & chef Gavin & his partner, Annika Meiklejohn, moved the operations to Scotland after encouragement from friends and a desire to create beer to match the quality of Gavin’s culinary creations. Gavin explains, “We were making beer in New Zealand, and my friends would come over from Scotland and ask why they couldn’t buy beer like this back home.”

After making a move in 2010, Gavin & Annika set up a ten-barrel brewery, and the Tempest Brewery was born.

With Gavin’s background as a chef, his respect for ingredients and flavour combinations inspired the brewery’s beers. Think smokey beers, chili beers, fruit beers, and there was nothing off-limits. These flavour combinations quickly made a name for the brewery. By 2014 people from all over the world were traveling to see what the fuss was about. Those who couldn’t travel simply ordered from the website, and the team began sending their product worldwide.

2017 also marked a big year for the brewery as they finally opened their long-awaited Taproom & Kitchen on-site, meaning people could come and enjoy a meal paired with one of Gavin’s delicious beers. It was also the year the brewery first hosted Springfest and Oktoberfest, both of which have become mainstays in the craft year calendar each year since.

If you win the lottery and find yourself in Scotland, a visit to the Tempest Brewing Co should definitely be on your list.
