Bringing Joy to NT Families: The Lottery Office Donates to the 33rd Annual Children’s Film Festival

We’re proud to share that The Lottery Office has once again stepped up to support our local community—this time by donating 11 tickets to the 33rd Annual Children’s Film Festival, hosted by the Lions Club of Darwin Nightcliff.

The festival, held at Birch Carroll Coyle/Event Cinemas Casuarina over the first two weekends of May, is a much-loved tradition in the Northern Territory. For more than three decades, it has given children and families facing significant challenges—from physical or mental disabilities to chronic illness or socio-economic disadvantage—a rare and joyful outing to the movies.

This year, The Lottery Office is proud to play a small part in this big-hearted event. Each ticket donation means a child or family who might not otherwise be able to enjoy such an experience gets to sit back, relax, and escape into the magic of film—even if just for a little while.

“Supporting initiatives like the Children’s Film Festival is part of our commitment to making a real difference in the lives of everyday Australians,” said Jaclyn Wood, CEO of The Lottery Office.

“We’re proud to help create moments of happiness for children and families who are doing it tough. It’s about more than just a day at the movies—it’s about connection, care, and community.”

But the impact of the festival doesn’t stop at the cinema doors. Proceeds raised through ticket sponsorships go directly back into the community, funding vital programs like mental health services through Two Two One Darwin, initiatives run by the Down Syndrome Association of Darwin, and even medical equipment for children undergoing cancer treatment at the  Royal Darwin Hospital.

Since its beginnings in 1992, the festival has raised over $1.2 million for projects that uplift and support those in need right across the NT. That’s the kind of long-term community impact we’re proud to be part of!
